Hamburger casserole
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- shortening - 3 Tbsp
- onion, chopped - 1 item
- tomato sauce - 1 c
- lean ground beef - 1 lb
- black pepper - 1/4 tsp
- cooked, mixed vegetables - 2 c
- corn muffin mix made into batter - 1 pkg
How to make hamburger casserole:
Simmer onion in shortening. When tender, stir in ground beef and brown lightly. Add tomato sauce and mixed vegetables. Season with salt and pepper. Bring to boil. Pour in casserole and spread with corn muffin batter. Bake in 375° oven for 25 minutes or until golden brown. Serves 4 or 5.If you like a thick 2-inch corn muffin topping, use small casserole or pan. If you like a thin 1-inch topping, use large 9 x 12-inch pan.
