Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 2 item
- flour - 4 c
- cloves - 1/4 tsp
- applesauce
- walnuts, cut small - 1 c
- raisins white or black - 1 lb
- large gumdrops assorted colors, can omit licorice
- shortening butter or substitute - 1 c
- each: cinnamon, salt and nutmeg - 1 tsp
How to make gumdrop cake:
Cut up the gumdrops; adding half of the flour makes the cutting easier. Then add the raisins and nuts to same mixture. Cream the shortening, eggs and sugar. Add a teaspoon of soda, dissolved first in a tablespoon of warm water. Last, add the applesauce and the remainder of flour to other dry ingredients.
