Gumdrop cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 3 c
- nutmeg - 1 tsp
- soda - 1 tsp
- shortening - 1 c
- chopped walnuts - 1 c
- raisins - 3 c
- eggs, unbeaten - 2 item
- ground cloves - 1/4 tsp
- thick applesauce - 1 c
- chopped gumdrops no black
How to make gumdrop cake:
Wash raisins and dry in warm oven. Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add applesauce and stir to blend.Add sifted dry ingredients, raisins, nuts and gum drops. Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan. Bake in a 275° oven for about 2 hours or until toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool at least overnight.
