Gumdrop cake

Ingredients/Components

• sugar - 1 c
• cinnamon - 1 tsp
• salt - 1 tsp
• flour - 3 c
• nutmeg - 1 tsp
• soda - 1 tsp
• shortening - 1 c
• chopped walnuts - 1 c
• raisins - 3 c
• eggs, unbeaten - 2 item
• ground cloves - 1/4 tsp
• thick applesauce - 1 c
• chopped gumdrops no black

How to make gumdrop cake:

Wash raisins and dry in warm oven. Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add applesauce and stir to blend.

Add sifted dry ingredients, raisins, nuts and gum drops. Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan. Bake in a 275° oven for about 2 hours or until toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool at least overnight.
