Ingredients/Components
- flour - 1 c
- stick margarine - 1 item
- water - 12 c
- cloves garlic - 2 item
- onion, chopped - 1 item
- bay leaves - 2 item
- bell pepper, chopped - 1 item
- Creole seasoning - 2 Tbsp
- okra, chopped - 2 c
- peeled shrimp, deveined - 2 lb
- crabmeat and claws alt - 1 lb
- chopped tomatoes or tomato sauce - 8 oz
How to make gumbo:
Mix margarine and flour together in a heavy pot. Cook over low heat, stirring until roux becomes dark brown. Add onion, okra, garlic and bell pepper; saut?© until tender. Add water and seasoning. Cook 1 hour. Add meat and tomatoes. Cook 1 more hour. Serve in soup plate over boiled rice.Recipe categories: Main dish, Gumbo, Stew.
