Ingredients/Components
- milk - 1/2 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- stick margarine - 1 item
- eggs, separated - 3 item
- water - 4 c
- grated cheese - 1/4 lb
- sharp grated cheese - 1/4 lb
- grits - 1 c
How to make grits casserole:
Cook grits in salted water until done. Add butter, cheese, slightly beaten egg yolks and milk. Stir until melted and smooth. Beat egg whites until stiff; add grits mixture to egg whites. Place in 1 1/2-quart casserole and bake for 1 hour at 325°. Serves 6 to 8.Recipe categories: Vegetables, Main dish, Casseroles.
