Ingredients/Components
- to 6 green tomatoes, washed, pared and sliced thin - 5 item
- raw pie dough 1 for bottom and 1 for top
- flour - 3 Tbsp
- sugar - 1/4 c
- vinegar or lemon juice - 3 Tbsp
- allspice - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- margarine - 1 item
How to make green tomato pie:
Line a large pie pan with dough. Mix flour and 1/4 cup sugar together; spread over pie dough. Add sliced tomatoes. Sprinkle with vinegar or lemon juice. Sprinkle with 3/4 cup sugar and allspice. Dot with butter. Cover with top crust and bake at 375° to 400° for about 40 to 45 minutes.Note: This is a very juicy pie and will bubble over if pie pan is too small.
