Green pepper steak



  • cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
  • water - 1 c
  • salad oil - 1/4 c
  • ground ginger - 1/2 tsp
  • soy sauce - 1/4 c
  • stalks celery, thinly sliced - 2 item
  • clove garlic - 1 item
  • red or green peppers, cut into 1-inch squares - 1 c
  • tomatoes, cut into wedges - 2 item
  • green onion, thinly sliced - 1 c
  • beef chuck, fat trimmed - 1 lb

How to make green pepper steak:

With a very sharp knife, cut beef across grain into thin strips. Combine garlic, soy sauce and ginger. Add beef. Toss and set aside while preparing vegetables. Heat oil in large frying pan. Add beef and toss over high heat until brown. Turn heat up and add vegetables. Toss until vegetables are tender-crisp, about 10 minutes. Mix cornstarch with water. Add to pan. Stir and cook until thickened. Add tomatoes and heat through. Great served with hot rice.
