Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1 Tbsp
  • water - 1 qt
  • molasses - 2 Tbsp
  • chopped onion - 4 c
  • chili powder - 3 Tbsp
  • apple cider vinegar - 2 Tbsp
  • ground cumin - 1 Tbsp
  • black pepper - 1 Tbsp
  • minced garlic - 3 Tbsp
  • crushed red pepper - 1 Tbsp
  • chopped bell pepper - 3 c
  • canned tomatoes - 3 qt
  • cans green chilies - 6 oz
  • pickled jalapenos - 4 item
  • cubed pork Boston butt - 3 lb

How to make green chili:

Brown pork in large stock pot and pour off fat. After pork is browned, add all ingredients and simmer for 3 hours. More or less water can be used depending on how thick you want your chili. Can be served in bowl with crackers and shredded Cheddar cheese or rolled in flour tortillas in a cake pan. Top with Cheddar cheese and sour cream. Bake for 15 minutes at 350°.
