Ingredients/Components

  • flour - 1 item
  • butter - 2 Tbsp
  • egg - 1 item
  • ground beef - 1 lb
  • salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
  • olive oil - 2 Tbsp
  • medium onion, finely chopped - 1 item
  • slices white bread - 4 item
  • crushed dried mint, dill weed or oregano - 1 Tbsp

How to make greek meatballs:

Trim crust from bread. Place in a mixing bowl. Cover with a small amount of water. Gently squeeze bread to drain excess water. Return bread to a bowl. Add meat, egg, onion and whatever herb you have chosen. Salt and pepper. Mix well with hands. Shape into 2-inch patties; coat well with flour. Fry patties over high heat in mixture of butter and oil. Turn once. Drain on paper towels. Serve with pilaf and a hot vegetable, or add to spaghetti sauce. Serves 4.
