Grandmother's gingerbread
Ingredients/Components
- eggs - 2 item
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour
- soda - 2 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- molasses - 3/4 c
- Crisco - 1/2 c
- brown sugar, packed - 1 c
- ground cinnamon - 1 tsp
- ginger powder - 2 tsp
How to make grandmother's gingerbread:
Beat sugar, Crisco and eggs until fluffy. Stir in molasses. Mix dry ingredients together; add in small amounts with buttermilk to the sugar, Crisco, eggs and molasses mixture. Blend well. Spread evenly in a greased and floured 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes, until a pick in center comes out clean.
