Grandma's oatmeal cookies
Ingredients/Components
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- granulated sugar - 1/2 c
- water - 1/4 c
- soda - 1/2 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- all-purpose flour - 1 c
- firmly packed brown sugar - 1 c
- vegetable shortening - 3/4 c
- salt optional - 1 tsp
- oats, uncooked - 3 c
How to make grandma's oatmeal cookies:
Preheat oven to 350°. Beat together shortening, sugars, egg, water and vanilla until creamy. Add combined remaining ingredients and mix well. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350° for 12 to 15 minutes. (For variety, add chopped nuts and raisins.) Makes about 5 dozen cookies.Recipe categories: Desserts, Drop cookies, Cookie and brownie.
