Grandma's chocolate pie
Ingredients/Components
- flour - 1 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- shortening - 6 Tbsp
- sugar
- egg yolks - 3 item
- cocoa
- whole milk - 2 c
- pinch of salt - 1 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- butter - 1 Tbsp
- Meringue:3 egg whites
- pinch of tartar - 1 item
How to make grandma's chocolate pie:
Filling:1 c. sugar3 egg yolks2 heaping Tbsp. flour2 heaping Tbsp. cocoa2 c. whole milk pinch of salt1 tsp. vanilla1 Tbsp. butter Meringue:3 egg whites6 Tbsp. sugar pinch of tartar For Crust: Mix all ingredients. Roll out and place into 9-inch pie plate. Bake at 400° for 15 minutes.Filling: Mix together all; heat in saucepan until thickened. Pour in pie shell.
Meringue: Beat eggs and sugar. Add tartar until stiff; top over filling.
Bake in warm oven to slightly brown. Watch close only a few minutes; let set for 10 minutes and slice a piece of pie.
