  • milk - 2 c
  • butter or margarine - 1/4 c
  • soft bread crumbs - 3 c
  • sugar - 1/2 c
  • eggs, beaten - 2 item
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • cinnamon or nutmeg - 1 tsp
  • raisins if desired - 1/2 c

How to make grandma's bread pudding:

Heat milk and butter until scalded. Grease a 1 1/2-quart casserole. Add remaining ingredients to scalded milk and butter and pour into greased casserole dish. Place casserole in pan of very HOT water and bake at 350° for 40 to 50 minutes or until a knife inserted 1-inch from edge comes out clean.
