Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- eggs - 7 item
- cold water - 3/4 c
- cooking oil - 1/2 c
- cake flour - 2 c
- tsp baking powder - 3 item
- tsp vanilla - 2 item
- grated rind of 1 lemon
- tsp cream of tartar - 1/2 item
How to make golden chiffon cake:
Sift together the dry ingredients into a mixing bowl. Make a well and add salad oil, egg yolks and cold water. Beat with a spoon until smooth. Beat egg whites in a large bowl with cream of tartar. Beat until very stiff peaks form. Do not under beat!!! Pour egg yolk mixture gradually over whipped egg whites, folding with rubber scraper. Pour into 10 inch tube pan. Bake 55 minutes in 325° oven. Increase to 350 for 10 minutes. If using 1/2 recipe, bake in 9 inch square pan, 350° for 30 minutes.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, < 4 hours.
