  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • brown sugar, packed
  • egg - 1 item
  • milk - 1/4 c
  • flour - 2 c
  • nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
  • cloves - 1/2 tsp
  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • nutmeats - 1 c
  • chopped, unpeeled apples - 1 c
  • raisins or dates or half and half - 1 c
  • Add egg and milk
  • hot milk
  • butter - 1 Tbsp

How to make glazed apple cookies:

Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg and milk. Mix together flour and spices and add to creamed mixture; stir in nuts, apples and raisins. Drop by teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375° for 10 to 12 minutes.Glaze:1 1/2 c. powdered sugar2 1/2 Tbsp. hot milk1 Tbsp. butter Mix sugar with milk and butter. Ice cookies.
