  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • granulated sugar - 1 item
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • brown sugar - 1 c
  • soda - 2 tsp
  • egg - 1 item
  • shortening - 3/4 c
  • molasses - 1/4 c
  • sifted flour
  • cloves - 1/2 tsp
  • ground ginger - 1 tsp

How to make gingersnaps:

Cream together shortening, brown sugar, molasses and egg until fluffy. Sift together all remaining ingredients except granulated sugar. Stir into molasses mixture; form into small balls. Roll in granulated sugar. Place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake in 375° oven for 12 minutes. Makes about 5 dozen.
