Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- salt
- flour - 5 c
- shortening - 1 c
- ginger - 1 Tbsp
- cloves - 1 tsp
- eggs, well beaten - 2 item
- New Orleans molasses - 1 c
- soda, dissolved in vinegar - 1 Tbsp
How to make gingersnaps:
Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, molasses, soda and vinegar. Add sifted flour, salt and spices. Roll thin on a pastry cloth. Bake in moderate oven at 375°. Watch carefully, as ginger cookies burn easily.Recipe categories: Desserts, Drop cookies, Cookie and brownie.
