Gingerbread cookies
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- molasses - 1/2 c
- allspice
- Crisco shortening - 1/2 c
- egg, lightly beaten - 1 item
- Martha White all-purpose flour - 3 c
How to make gingerbread cookies:
Preheat oven to 325°. In a large saucepan, combine sugar, shortening and molasses. Heat to boiling, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat; cool to room temperature. Stir in remaining ingredients in order listed; blend well.For Cookies: Roll out dough on lightly floured board 1/8-inch thickness. Cut with cookie cutters. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet for 10 to 12 minutes until brown. Cool and decorate as desired.
