  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
  • nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • baking soda - 1/2 tsp
  • boiling water - 1/2 c
  • egg - 1 item
  • all-purpose flour - 3/4 c
  • molasses - 1/2 c
  • ginger - 1 tsp
  • margarine - 1/3 c
  • lemon juice
  • honey - 1/4 c
  • whole wheat flour - 3/4 c
  • few grains salt - 1 item
  • few grains nutmeg - 1 item
  • Lemon Sauce as topping optional - 1 item
  • Stir flours with baking powder, salt and spices

How to make gingerbread:

Cream molasses, margarine, honey and egg. Stir flours with baking powder, salt and spices. Add flour mixture to creamed mixture alternately with boiling water. Beat well after each addition. Bake in an 8 x 8-inch square pan at 350° for 30 minutes.Lemon Sauce:1/2 c. sugar1 Tbsp. cornstarch1 c. boiling water2 Tbsp. margarine1 1/2 Tbsp. lemon juice few grains nutmeg few grains salt Mix sugar and cornstarch in small saucepan. Add boiling water, stirring constantly. Boil 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in remaining ingredients. Yields 1 cup.
