Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- soda
- egg - 1 item
- shortening - 1/2 c
- molasses - 1 c
- ginger - 1 tsp
- hot water add last - 1 c
How to make gingerbread:
Cream sugar and shortening; add eggs and molasses. Then add dry ingredients. Add hot water last. Beat until smooth. Batter is thin, but makes a nice cake. Bake in greased 12 x 9-inch cake pan at 350° for 35 minutes or little longer. This cake is very good with brown sugar icing.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, < 60 mins.
