Ingredients/Components

  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • brown sugar - 1/4 c
  • white sugar - 1/4 c
  • molasses - 1 c
  • eggs - 2 item
  • flour
  • soda
  • baking powder - 2 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • ginger - 1 tsp
  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • sour cream - 1 c

How to make gingerbread:

Cream shortening and sugars, beat in eggs and syrup. Sift dry ingredients and add with milk. Bake at 350° until done to touch. It fills about an 8-inch square pan, greased and floured.

Hint: I use Steen's syrup and double the brown sugar, plus a little more white sugar.
