Ginger strips
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
- vanilla - 1/2 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour
- soda - 2 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- powdered sugar
- molasses - 1/4 c
- ginger - 1/2 tsp
- soft butter - 1 Tbsp
- butter or margarine, softened - 3/4 c
- cloves - 1/2 tsp
- milk or cream - 2 3
How to make ginger strips:
Glaze:3/4 c. powdered sugar1 Tbsp. soft butter2 to 3 Tbsp. milk or cream1/2 tsp. vanilla Mix first 4 ingredients. Add rest of ingredients (except glaze ingredients) and mix well. Shape into a 12-inch log and chill 5 minutes. Divide log into 6 equal pieces. Using an 11 x 14-inch pan as a guide, roll each piece out to width of pan and flatten slightly (should be about 2 inches wide with space between each row). Brush with water and sprinkle with sugar. Bake in preheated 350° oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Cool 5 minutes; cut diagonally into 1-inch pieces.
