Ingredients/Components

  • butter, softened - 1/4 c
  • sugar - 1/2 c
  • egg - 1 item
  • molasses - 1/2 c
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • hot water - 1/2 c
  • flour - 2 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • ginger - 1 tsp
  • nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
  • cloves - 1/2 tsp
  • cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
  • sifted powdered sugar
  • lemon juice
  • cream

How to make ginger creams:

Icing:3/4 c. sifted powdered sugar1 1/2 tsp. lemon juice1 1/2 tsp. cream Mix together butter, sugar, egg and molasses until well blended. Stir baking soda into 1/2 cup hot water until dissolved. Then stir into first mixture. Mix flour, salt, ginger, nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon. Stir into butter. Chill dough. Drop by rounded teaspoons about 2 inches apart on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 400° for 7 to 8 minutes. While still warm, frost with icing. Stir lemon juice and cream into powdered sugar until smooth.
