  • sugar - 4 tsp
  • salt - 3 tsp
  • water - 1/2 c
  • vinegar - 1 c
  • pepper - 1 tsp
  • chopped onion - 1 c
  • potatoes
  • celery seed - 1 tsp
  • strips bacon - 10 item

How to make german potato salad:

Cook potatoes with skins on. Peel and slice 5 cups. Fry bacon, take out of skillet and saut?© the onions in the same skillet. Put potatoes and onions in bowl.

Heat vinegar, water, salt, pepper, sugar and celery seed until sugar is dissolved and hot. Taste for sourness and spice. Adjust if necessary. Add the crumbled bacon to vinegar mixture and pour over potatoes. Stir through. Top with cooked, sliced egg, if desired. Serve warm or chilled. Best if made a day ahead.
