  • sugar - 1/2 c
  • eggs - 2 item
  • milk - 1 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 3 c
  • raisins - 1/2 1
  • warm water - 1/4 c
  • yeast - 1 pkg
  • shortening, soft - 1/2 c

How to make german coffee cake:

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Beat eggs and sugar; add shortening, salt, milk and yeast. Add flour and raisins; beat. Let rise until double, then spread dough in 17 x 11 x 1-inch pan and let rise until double. Before baking, sprinkle on topping of 1 cup sugar and 1/2 stick oleo. Crumble this mixture over top. Bake at 350° for about 30 to 35 minutes.
