Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 4 item
- vanilla - 2 tsp
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- stick margarine - 1 item
- butter - 1/2 c
- egg yolks - 3 item
- coconut - 1 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- cocoa - 4 Tbsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- all-purpose flour
- vegetable shortening - 1/2 c
- cream
- broken pecans - 1 c
- cold black coffee - 4 Tbsp
How to make german chocolate cake:
Filling:1 c. cream1 c. sugar3 egg yolks1 1/2 tsp. vanilla1 stick margarine1 c. coconut1 c. broken pecans Cream sugar, shortening and butter together. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with buttermilk. Blend in coffee and vanilla. Bake in three 9-inch layer pans at 350° in preheated oven for 35 minutes.Filling: Combine cream, sugar, egg yolks and margarine in saucepan for 10 minutes, stirring constantly. Add coconut, vanilla and pecans. Allow to cool to lukewarm and beat until consistency to spread. Spread on cooled cake.
