Ingredients/Components
- eggs - 6 item
- baking powder - 1/4 tsp
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- pinch of salt - 1 item
- vegetable oil - 1 item
- cups milk - 4 item
- cup sugar - 1/2 item
- cups sifted flour - 7 item
- sugar and cinnamon mixed or powdered sugar - 1 item
How to make funnel cakes:
Sift the dry ingredients together. Beat the eggs in a large bowl and add the milk. Stir in the dry ingredients and beat until smooth. The batter should be about like pancake batter, you may need to add more milk.Heat the oil to 400 degrees in a deep pan. Put about 3 tablespoons of batter in the funnel (we used 1 1/2 tablespoons), holding a finger over the small end of the funnel. When you are ready. just remove your finger and slowly swirl the funnel as batter runs into the pan. Fry until golden brown. Roll in cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar. Caution: the grease is very hot! Makes about 40 funnel cakes.
