Fudge nut bars
Ingredients/Components
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 2 tsp
- pkg - 1 oz
- salt - 1 tsp
- chopped nuts - 1 c
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- quick cooking rolled oats - 3 c
- sifted flour
- margarine - 1 c
- light brown sugar, packed - 2 c
- Eagle Brand milk - 1 c
How to make fudge nut bars:
Cream 1 cup margarine and sugar. Mix in eggs and vanilla. Sift together flour, soda and 1 teaspoon salt; stir in rolled oats. Add dry ingredients to cream mixture. Set aside while you make filling.In a saucepan over boiling water, mix together chocolate chips, Eagle Brand, 2 tablespoons margarine and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Stir until chocolate chips are melted and mixture is smooth. Remove from heat; stir in nuts and vanilla. Spread 2/3 of cookie dough in a greased jelly roll pan. Cover with fudge filling. Dot with remainder of cookie dough and swirl it over fudge filling. Bake in moderate oven (350°) for 25 to 30 minutes, or until lightly browned. Cut in small bars. Cool in pan on racks. Makes about 6 dozen.
