Fudge nut bars
Ingredients/Components
- butter or margarine - 1 c
- light brown sugar, firmly packed - 2 c
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 2 tsp
- sifted flour
- soda - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- quick cooking oats - 3 c
- pkg - 1 oz
- sweetened condensed milk not evaporated - 1 c
- chopped nuts - 1 c
How to make fudge nut bars:
Cream together butter and sugar. Mix in eggs and 2 teaspoons vanilla. Sift together flour, soda and 1 teaspoon salt; stir in oats. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture. Set aside while you make filling.In a saucepan over boiling water mix together chocolate pieces, sweetened condensed milk, 2 tablespoons butter and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Stir until chocolate pieces are melted and mixture is smooth. Remove from heat and stir in nuts and 2 teaspoons vanilla. Spread about 2/3 of cookie dough in bottom of a greased 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1-inch jelly roll pan (use 9 x 13-inch dish). Cover with fudge filling. Dot with remaining cookie dough and spread it over fudge filling. Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes or until lightly browned. Cut in small 2 x 1-inch bars. Cool in pan rack. Makes about 6 dozen.
