  • sugar
  • eggs - 2 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • milk - 2/3 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour
  • butter - 2 Tbsp
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • cocoa - 1/2 c
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • dash of salt - 1 item
  • hot water - 1/3 c
  • white Karo syrup - 1 Tbsp
  • shortening or butter - 1/2 c
  • Pour into 3 cake pans or 1 oblong pan

How to make fudge cake:

Mix water and cocoa; add remaining ingredients. Pour into 3 cake pans or 1 oblong pan. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.Icing:2 c. sugar4 Tbsp. cocoa dash of salt2/3 c. milk1 Tbsp. white Karo syrup1 tsp. vanilla2 Tbsp. butter Mix sugar, cocoa and salt. Add milk and Karo. Cook in an iron skillet. Remove from stove and add butter and vanilla.
