  • sugar - 2 c
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • milk - 6 Tbsp
  • chopped nuts - 1 c
  • flour - 2 c
  • water - 1 c
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • cocoa - 4 Tbsp
  • box confectioners sugar - 1 item
  • eggs, slightly beaten - 2 item
  • sticks butter or margarine - 3 item
  • cocoa or 1 oz - 4 Tbsp
  • buttermilk 1/2 c - 1/2 c
  • In saucepan, place butter or margarine, cocoa and water

How to make fudge cake:

Sift together sugar and flour. In saucepan, place butter or margarine, cocoa and water. Bring to rapid boil. Pour over flour and sugar mixture and mix well. Add buttermilk, soda, vanilla and slightly beaten eggs. Mix well; pour into greased pan (16 x 11-inch) or 2 small pans. Bake for 25 minutes at 350°. (Batter will be thin.) Start Fudge Icing 5 minutes before cake is done.Fudge Icing:1 stick butter4 Tbsp. cocoa or 1 oz. chocolate6 Tbsp. milk1 box confectioners sugar1 tsp. vanilla1 c. chopped nuts Melt butter, cocoa or chocolate and milk together in large saucepan and bring to boil. Remove from heat and add confectioners sugar, vanilla and nuts. Beat well. Pour over cake as soon as cake comes out of oven.
