Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/2 c
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • flour - 1 c
  • buttermilk - 2/3 c
  • baking powder - 2 tsp
  • shortening - 1/4 c
  • fresh or frozen berries - 1 pt
  • soda, mixed in the buttermilk - 1/2 tsp
  • juice from any fruit - 1 c

How to make fruit cobbler:

Mix the first 7 ingredients like a cake; beat it. Pour into a 9-inch square baking pan or glass baking dish. Spread over it the berries, 1 cup sugar (if unsweetened) and juice from the fruit. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes to 1 hour.

It is good served with a whipped topping or a dip of ice cream or ice milk.
