Ingredients/Components
- milk - 1/2 c
- flour - 1 item
- brown sugar - 2 Tbsp
- salt and pepper - 1 item
- tomatoes solid, cut in 1/2-inch slices - 4 item
- hot fat and butter - 3 Tbsp
How to make fried tomatoes:
Dredge slices thickly with flour. Fry quickly in 2 tablespoons hot drippings or butter, browning well on both sides. Remove to serving platter. Sprinkle with salt, pepper and brown sugar. Keep warm. Add 1 tablespoon of butter to the pan and blend in a tablespoon flour. Add the milk and cook, stirring constantly. Should be about the consistency of thick cream.
