Ingredients/Components
- milk - 1/2 c
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- flour - 1/2 c
- vegetable oil - 2 Tbsp
- egg - 1 item
- c flour - 3/4 item
- large onions, peeled - 3 item
How to make fried onion rings:
Sift 3/4 cup flour and 1/4 teaspoon salt in a bowl; add milk, oil and egg; beat until smooth to make a batter. Heat oil 1/2 inch deep in a heavy skillet or use a deep fryer. Cut onions into 1/4 inch thick slices and separate into rings. Put 1/2 cup flour and 1/2 teaspoon salt in a bag and drop in onion rings and shake to coat.Dip each ring in the batter, drain well. Drop a few at a time into hot oil. Fry 2 to 3 minutes, turning occasionally. Drain on paper towels. Yield 4 or 5 servings.
