Fried lumpia



  • sugar - 3 Tbsp
  • salt - 1 Tbsp
  • cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
  • water - 1/2 c
  • vinegar
  • ground pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • cabbage, shredded - 1 c
  • carrots, shredded - 1/2 c
  • ground pork - 1 lb
  • jicama, chopped fine - 1/2 c
  • whole onion medium, chopped fine - 1 item
  • lumpia wrappers try Menlo brand - 1 pkg
  • Put pork in bowl and mix in all vegetables, onion, salt and pepper

How to make fried lumpia:

Saute ground pork for 5 minutes, constantly stirring. Put pork in bowl and mix in all vegetables, onion, salt and pepper. Wrap mix in lumpia wrapper to desired size. Deep fry. Makes 15 to 20 pieces.

How to Wrap: Lay lumpia wrapper with one pointed corner towards you. Put 1 heaping spoonful of mixture in a line across the middle of the wrapper. Fold your corner forward, covering the line of mix. Fold in both pointed side corners. Roll tightly forward. Seal closing corner by moistening with water.Lumpia Sauce:3 Tbsp. catsup3 Tbsp. sugar3 Tbsp. vinegar1/2 c. water1 Tbsp. cornstarch1 Tbsp. water1/2 Tbsp. salt Mix and bring to a boil the first 4 ingredients. Turn off heat. Thoroughly mix next 3 ingredients. Combine both mixtures and stir until sauce is smooth and even. Dip fried lumpia into sauce.
