Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- egg, well beaten - 1 item
- pepper - 1/2 tsp
- large tomatoes - 6 item
- bread crumbs or 1 to 2 c - 1/2 c
How to make fried green tomatoes:
Wash tomatoes and cut into 1/2-inch slices. Soak for 1 hour in cold salted water. Add pepper and salt to the beaten egg. Dip each tomato slice into mixture and then in bread crumbs. Fry on both sides in hot oil until brown.Recipe categories: Side dish, Vegetables, Southern u.s..
