  • eggs - 3 item
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 5 tsp
  • butter - 2 tsp
  • water - 1/3 c
  • baking powder
  • plain flour
  • Crisco - 2/3 c
  • egg, beaten - 1 item
  • orange juice - 1/2 c
  • grated orange rind - 1 Tbsp
  • strained orange juice - 3/4 c
  • Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well

How to make fresh orange cake:

Mix sugar and Crisco. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well. Add flour, baking powder and salt; mix thoroughly. Add juice and rind. Makes 2 large layers. Cook at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes until done.Icing:1 c. sugar5 tsp. flour1 egg, beaten1/2 c. orange juice1/2 c. water2 tsp. butter1 tsp. grated orange rind Cook in double boiler until thick, stirring constantly.
