  • sugar - 1 c
  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • flour - 1 c
  • butter - 2 Tbsp
  • nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
  • cold water - 1 c
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • vegetable oil - 1 Tbsp
  • egg - 1 item
  • pecans, chopped - 1/2 c
  • a little cinnamon - 1 item
  • apples, chopped fine - 2 c
  • Dissolve the soda in 1 or 2 teaspoons water

How to make fresh apple cake:

Mix apples, sugar and salt; let stand 10 to 13 minutes. Dissolve the soda in 1 or 2 teaspoons water. Add soda, egg, oil and nuts to apples. Sift flour, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add to apples. Mix well. Bake in a greased 8 x 8-inch pan at 350° for 30 to 40 minutes.Spicy Vanilla Sauce:1 c. sugar2 Tbsp. flour1 c. cold water2 Tbsp. butter1 tsp. vanilla a little cinnamon Combine first 3 ingredients. Cook until clear and thickened. Blend in butter, vanilla and cinnamon. Pour over Apple Cake. Sauce will be thin.
