French toast
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/4 c
- eggs - 4 item
- milk - 1/3 c
- vanilla extract - 1/2 tsp
- butter or margarine, melted - 1/2 c
- powdered sugar optional - 1 item
- ground nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
- orange juice - 2/3 c
- chopped nuts your choice - 1/2 c
- loaf French bread, cut into 1-inch slices - 1 item
- favorite syrup - 1 item
How to make french toast:
In a greased 13 x 9 baking pan, arrange the bread slices. In a bowl, combine eggs, orange juice, milk, sugar, vanilla and nutmeg. Whisk until well blended. Pour over bread slices. Cover and refrigerate overnight.In another large baking pan, melt butter. Transfer bread slices and sprinkle with nuts. Bake, uncovered, in preheated 400° oven for 20 to 25 minutes, until golden brown. Dust with powdered sugar if desired. Serve warm with favorite syrup.
