French onion soup
Ingredients/Components
- butter or margarine - 1/4 c
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- Worcestershire sauce - 1 tsp
- grated Parmesan cheese - 1 item
- cans condensed beef broth - 3 1/2
- 1 1/2 lb - 6 c
- to 8 slices Swiss cheese - 6 item
- to 8 slices French bread toasted - 6 item
How to make french onion soup:
In a covered 3 quart saucepan cook sliced onions in butter until tender, about 20 minutes. Add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt and dash of pepper. Bring to boiling.Sprinkle toast slices with grated Parmesan cheese. Add Swiss cheese and place under broiler until cheese is lightly browned. Ladle soup into bowls and float toasted slices on top.
