French onion soup
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- butter - 2 Tbsp
- water - 2 c
- Parmesan cheese - 1 item
- sage - 1/2 tsp
- bay leaf - 1 item
- dry white wine - 1/2 c
- olive oil - 2 Tbsp
- French bread - 1 item
- yellow onions - 2 lb
- Gruyere cheese - 1/4 lb
- cans beef bouillon - 4 item
How to make french onion soup:
Saute onions in butter and oil. Cover and cook for 20 minutes more on low heat. Remove cover and add remaining ingredients except for bread and cheese. Cover again and simmer for another 20 minutes.Toast bread brushed with oil and sprinkled with Parmesan and a bit of garlic powder. Serve soup with a slice of bread on top with shredded Gruyere cheese.
