French onion soup
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 2 tsp
- margarine - 4 Tbsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- grated Parmesan cheese - 1/2 c
- Swiss cheese, grated - 1/4 c
- beef broth - 6 c
- large onions, sliced - 4 item
- to 8 slices French bread, toasted - 6 item
How to make french onion soup:
Saute onions in margarine in large pot for 15 minutes, or until lightly browned. Stir in broth, salt and pepper. Bring to boiling. Reduce heat, cover and simmer 30 minutes.Ladle soup into 6 ovenproof soup bowls or large casserole. Lay bread slices on top, sprinkle with cheeses. Heat in 425° oven for 10 minutes, then place under broiler until top is bubbly and lightly browned.
