French onion soup
Ingredients/Components
- butter or margarine - 1/4 c
- grated Mozzarella cheese - 1/2 c
- sherry - 1/4 c
- slices French bread, toasted - 6 item
- medium onions, thinly sliced - 6 item
- beef stock or 4 10 oz - 6 c
How to make french onion soup:
In a stock pot, melt butter. Saute onions until tender. Add stock; simmer for 20 minutes. Stir in sherry. Pour soup into individual ovenproof soup crocks or soup tureen. Float toast on top; sprinkle with cheese. Broil 4 inches from heat, until cheese melts and begins to brown. Serve at once.Recipe categories: Soups & stews, Meat, French.
