French onion casserole
Ingredients/Components
- flour - 2 Tbsp
- margarine - 3 Tbsp
- dash of pepper - 1 item
- dry sherry - 1/4 c
- melted butter or margarine - 2 Tbsp
- shredded Swiss cheese - 2 oz
- beef bouillon - 3/4 c
- plain croutons
- onions, sliced Spanish or Vidalia - 4 item
- grated Parmesan cheese not prepackaged Kraft - 3 Tbsp
How to make french onion casserole:
Cook onions in 3 tablespoons margarine until tender. Blend in flour and pepper. Add bouillon and sherry. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Turn into casserole dish. Toss croutons in melted butter; spoon atop onion mixture. Sprinkle with Swiss and Parmesan cheeses. Place under broiler until cheese melts (about 1 minute). Serve immediately.
