  • flour - 2 Tbsp
  • margarine or butter - 3 Tbsp
  • melted butter - 2 Tbsp
  • grated Parmesan cheese - 3 Tbsp
  • dash of pepper - 1 item
  • dry sherry - 1/4 c
  • medium onions, sliced - 4 item
  • bouillon beef - 3/4 c
  • plain croutons
  • shredded Swiss cheese 1/2 c - 2 oz

How to make french onion casserole:

Cook onions in butter until tender. Blend in flour and pepper. Add bouillon and sherry. Cook and stir until thick and bubbly. Turn into a 1-quart casserole.

Toss croutons with 2 tablespoons of melted butter. Spoon on onions. Sprinkle with cheeses. Put under broiler until cheese melts, 1 minute. Serve immediately. Serves 4 to 6.
