French market soup
Ingredients/Components
- clove garlic, minced - 1 item
- tsp pepper - 1/4 item
- 1/4 tsp salt - 1 item
- Tbsp lemon juice - 3 item
- quarts of water - 2 item
- large ham hock - 1 item
- cups of soup mix - 2 item
- 16 oz can whole tomatoes, undrained and coarsely chopped - 1 item
- 1/2 cups onion, chopped - 1 item
- chile pepper, coarsely chopped - 1 item
How to make french market soup:
Sort and wash soup mix; place in Dutch oven. Cover with water 2 inches above soup mix; let soak 8 hours.Drain soup mix, and return to pan; add 2 quarts water and ham hock. Bring to boil; cover, reduce heat and simmer 1 1/2 hours or until beans are tender. Stir in tomatoes and next 4 ingredients. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 30 minutes. Remove ham hock; remove meat from bone. Chop meat and return to soup. Stir in salt and pepper. Yield 3 quarts.
