French fried onion rings



  • milk - 1/2 c
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • flour - 1 c
  • oil - 1 Tbsp
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • onions - 1 item
  • whole egg, beaten - 1 item

How to make french fried onion rings:

Beat egg, oil and milk together. Sift dry ingredients together; stir liquid into flour mixture. Beat until smooth. Peel and slice onions across, about 1/4-inch thick. Separate into rings. While mixing batter, soak onion rings in milk, then dip rings in batter, taking care to cover completely. Fry in deep fat at about 375°. Salt lightly; keep in oven until ready to serve.
