French breakfast puffs
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- milk - 1/2 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
- baking powder
- egg - 1 item
- shortening - 1/3 c
- all-purpose flour
- butter, melted - 1/2 c
How to make french breakfast puffs:
Heat oven to 350°. Grease 12 medium muffin cups (2 1/2 x 1 1/2-inch). Mix shortening, 1/2 cup sugar and the egg thoroughly in medium bowl. Mix flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg. Stir into egg mixture alternately with milk. Fill muffin cups about 2/3 full. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.Mix 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon. Immediately roll hot muffins in melted butter, then in cinnamon sugar mixture. Serve hot.
