Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/2 c
  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • milk - 1/2 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour
  • nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
  • baking powder
  • egg - 1 item
  • shortening - 1/3 c
  • butter, melted - 6 Tbsp

How to make french breakfast puffs:

Mix 1 teaspoon cinnamon and 1/2 cup sugar and set aside. Cream shortening, 1/2 cup sugar and egg. Sift flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg. Add to creamed mixture. Alternate with milk, beating well after each addition. Fill greased muffin tins 2/3 full. Bake at 350° for 20 to 25 minutes. Remove from pan immediately. Dip in melted butter and then cinnamon sugar mixture until top is coated. Makes 12.
