French breakfast puffs
Ingredients/Components
- sugar, divided - 1 c
- egg - 1 item
- shortening - 1/3 c
- sifted flour
- baking powder
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- ground nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
- milk - 1/2 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- melted butter - 1 item
How to make french breakfast puffs:
Cream 1/2 cup sugar, egg and shortening. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg. Add creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating well after each addition. Fill 12 greased muffin pan holes 2/3 full with batter. Bake at 350° for 20 to 25 minutes. When done, dip puffs, while hot, in melted butter, then roll into 1/2 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon mixture. Freezes well. Serve hot or cold.Recipe categories: Breads, Lunch/snacks, Breakfast.
